A rare photo of the family of three. My grandfather was usually taking the picture and not in it. Although we never knew our grandfather since he died in 1918, we know he had to be a great man to have had our Grossmutter as his wife and our mother as his daughter.
Melrose - and I am sure my siblings have the same sentiments.
Also because even as Grandma (Hertha) got older whenever she would talk about Grossvater she would get tears in her eyes. She was the oldest and took his death very hard. My guess is she must have been a Daddy's girl. :-)
